The JONNY HEPBIR TRIO are three professional musicians who have been playing together in various formats for over fifteen years before forming the Jonny Hepbir Trio in 2007.

The JONNY HEPBIR TRIO is available to hire for weddings, events, corporate and private functions throughout the UK and abroad. Infectious rhythms played on an all-acoustic line-up of two guitars and double bass make them a suitable addition for any event. 

Spanning across the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's, our music of choice is a vibrant blend of Gypsy Swing, jazz standards and funky latin, all mashed up with some snappy arrangements and played from the heart.

 WHAT IS GYPSY JAZZ / GYPSY SWING?

Gypsy swing is a music style created by the legendary European guitarist, Django Reinhardt during the 1930's. Uniquely fusing jazz standards and traditional songs with the incredible musicianship of the Sinti gypsies, he produced a sound that became a global phenomenon. Easily standing the test of time and more popular today than ever before.

This distinctive style of music is the perfect complement to all kinds of special occasions including wedding ceremonies and breakfasts, drinks receptions, exhibitions and launches; and is a refreshing alternative to more traditional acoustic ensembles.

JONNY HEPBIR - Guitar

In the U.K, Jonny is one of the few truly authentic players on the gypsy jazz scene. His background has seen years of experience playing amongst some of the top gypsy guitarists in the world including Bireli Lagrene, Lulu Reinhardt and Stochelo Rosenberg amongst others. In 2004, GUITAR magazine referred to Jonny as '..the English virtuoso' .

JASON HENSON - Guitar

Dominating the jazz guitar scene in Brighton for over 10 years, during which time he has been hired by many of the country's finest musicians, including US legend Joe Lee Wilson and The Charlotte Glasson Group. As well as playing in many jazz clubs all over England, He also appeared at many music festivals including Marlborough, Bestival and Plymouth world music festival.

DAN SHEPPARD - Double Bass

Dan has worked the jazz scene for 15 years, played with the great Jimmy Scott and his band The Jazz Expressions at Ronnie Scott's, guitar hero John Etheridge, tenor titan Bobby Wellins, former Oscar Peterson drummer Bobby Durham, former McCoy Tyner drummer George Johnson. His sense of musicality and groove underpins the JHT perfectly.
